The Garden Route is great place to come and fly and have some fun, with lots of varied sites.

However, there are some things you must do before you go and fly.

SAHPA, which is the acronym for the South African Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association, is responsible for the following disciplines within South Africa :

• paragliders (PG)
• hang gliders (HG)
• powered paragliders (PPG)
• powered hang gliders (PHG)
• para-trikes

All pilots that part take in these sports must be licensed by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), as required by the Civil Aviation Act.

This means that if you are a pilot from overseas wishing to fly in South Africa you must have a ‘South African’ license. SAHPA has therefore created the ‘Foreign Pilot Permit’, and you must have one of these to fly our sites. The permit can be acquired on-line.

There are two sites in our area that require site fees:

1. The Map of Africa
2. Sedgefield

Register

Before you fly these sites, you need to register and pay the fees, which can be done on-line.

If you are staying with us and would like guiding as well price is R700 per day , this includes;

If you are not staying with us, we offer daily guiding for R950 per person per day, this includes;

• Weather briefing
• Site recommendations
• Site briefings
• Transport from Cloudbase

If you are not staying with us, and you have your own transport, a once off fee for R600 per person includes:

• Support for SAHPA registration
• Support for all local site fees payments
• Daily weather briefings
• Daily site recommendations
• Site briefings
